News release

On May 13, at approximately 11:45 a.m., Colchester County District RCMP responded to a 911 call from a man who said multiple males were threatening to kill him at a home on Mount Thom Rd. in Kemptown.

Officers attended the scene, and spoke with all involved parties separately.

Officers learned the three males attended the 911 caller's home to speak with him about a past online deal; one of the three had purchased a vehicle engine from the man. A verbal altercation occurred, and the man told the others to get off his property before exiting his residence with a firearm.

As the three males started to leave, they heard a bang. The man had fired a gunshot into the air.

Dana MacCoul, 28, was arrested at the scene without incident. A search warrant was executed on the property and officers seized a shotgun and ammunition.

MacCoul has been charged with Careless Use of a Firearm, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized and Unsafe Storage of a Firearm. MacCoul was remanded into custody and will appear in Truro Provincial Court today.
