Burin Peninsula RCMP investigates impaired driving collision in Terrenceville

A 50-year-old man was arrested for impaired driving following a motor vehicle collision that occurred on January 4, 2023, in Terrenceville.

Shortly before 8:00 p.m., police received the report of the collision. Officers attended the scene and learned that a car had crossed over into the oncoming lane and side swiped a SUV. The driver of the car, who was suspected to be impaired, departed the scene prior to police arrival.

He was located a short time later, showed signs of alcohol impairment and was arrested for impaired driving. The man was transported to the detachment where he provided breath samples that were nearly twice the legal limit. He was released from custody and is set to attend court at a later date to answer to charges of impaired driving. The man's licence was suspended.

The driver of the SUV received minor injuries.

The investigation is continuing.
