Annapolis District RCMP charges man after a disturbance in Torbrook

Annapolis District RCMP has charged a man after a disturbance in Torbrook.

On February 17, 2023, at 7 p.m., Annapolis District RCMP responded to a report of a disturbance at a home on Torbrook Rd. in Torbrook. While responding to the scene, RCMP officers learned that a person had been stabbed and another person was in possession of a firearm.

At approximately 7:20 p.m., RCMP officers arrived on scene and safely arrested three men and one youth. RCMP officers also located and seized two rifles, one of which was loaded. The victim was later located at a home in Greenwood and it was determined that he had suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Derek Scott Rice, 47, of Paradise, has been charged with Assault (3 counts), Break and Enter and Commit and Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose. Rice has been remanded into custody and will appear in Annapolis Royal Provincial Court on February 21, 2023, at 9:30 a.m.

A 31-year-old Lawrencetown man was later released on conditions and will appear in Annapolis Royal Provincial Court at a later date. He will be facing charges of Assault and Break and Enter and Commit.

A 17-year-old male youth was later released on conditions and will appear in Annapolis Royal Youth Justice Court at a later date. He will be facing a charge of Aggravated Assault.

The fourth person that was arrested was later released and will not be facing charges in this incident.

The investigation is continuing.
