Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit investigates homicide

On March 30, 2023, at approximately 5 p.m., Turner Valley and Okotoks RCMP responded to a report of found human remains near Hwy 552 and intersection 128 Street East near Okotoks, Alta. The RCMP Serious Crimes Unit with the assistance of Calgary Police Service has taken over carriage of the investigation and are treating it as a homicide. The deceased has been identified as 37-year-old Tara Miller AKA Tara Mbugua a resident of Calgary.

Police are seeking any information if you saw anything suspicious near Hwy 552 and 128 Street, between March 29, 2023, 12 p.m. and March 30, 2023, 5 p.m. Additionally, RCMP are looking to speak to individuals that knew or saw Tara in the days leading up to her death. Police are including a photo of Tara in hopes that individuals might recognize her.

Turner Valley RCMP advise of road closure

Turner Valley RCMP would like to advise that the road on Highway 552 near 306 Ave. East just east of the single lane bridge is currently blocked in all directions to facilitate a police investigation. RCMP anticipate remaining on scene for several hours. Officers will remain on scene redirecting traffic.
