Airdrie RCMP Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) engaged in an enhanced property crime enforcement project, in conjunction with retail loss prevention officers, in both the City of Airdrie and County of Rocky View, Alta., over the month of December.
During the project, Airdrie CRU arrested or assisted in apprehending over 20 offenders, primarily related to theft, shoplifting, and stolen vehicles. The project resulted in 20 new criminal code charges and the execution of 38 outstanding warrants, for charges including robbery, possession of stolen property, fail to comply with conditions, fail to attend court, break and enter, theft and drugs.
Thanks to partnerships with loss preventions officers and members of the community, Airdrie CRU were able to recover nearly $35,000 worth of stolen property and return it back to their rightful owners before the holiday season.
