Yellowknife RCMP respond to shooting incident

On March 9, 2022, the Yellowknife RCMP responded to a report of shots fired in the area of 51st Street, Yellowknife, NT.

At approximately 9:45 pm on March 9, 2022, the Yellowknife RCMP received a report of shots fired in the area of 51st Street. Officers responded and located evidence confirming a firearm had been discharged. At approximately 11:45 PM, a man attended the Stanton Territorial Hospital and reported that they had suffered an injury from a gunshot.

On March 10, 2022, another man attended the Stanton Territorial Hospital and was found to be suffering from an injury related to a gunshot. At this time, investigators believe this man's injuries are related to the shooting on March 9, 2022. It is also believed the parties involved in this incident are known to each other and there is no immediate risk to the public.

Both men sustained non-life threatening injuries and are being interviewed by investigators.

This incident remains under investigation with the assistance of the G Division Forensic Identification Services, G Division Police Dog Services and the Yellowknife General Investigation Section.
