Whitehorse RCMP requesting help from the public on identifying male suspected of being involved in an assault incident on Black Street

Whitehorse RCMP is asking for the assistance of the public for an investigation into an assault that occurred near the Black Street stairs just after midnight on May 19, 2022.

During the early morning hours of May 19, 2022, a female was walking near the Black Street Stairs in Whitehorse when she encountered an unknown male who claimed to know her. The male assaulted the female and was interrupted and chased away by several others in the area. Police attended the area immediately and canvassed at a variety of locations the suspect could have attended. No one matching the description of the suspect was located

Police are seeking public assistance in identifying the male who was described as being 30-40 years old, approximately 5' 8", and wearing a camouflage jacket, black pants, black cap and white runners.

Anyone who was in the area around this time who may be able to identify the male is encouraged to contact the police.

All residents living in the area with exterior video cameras are asked to contact the Whitehorse RCMP at Whitehorse RCMP at 867 667 5555.
