Whitbourne RCMP responds to fire at personal care home in Whiteway, residents safely evacuated

Whitbourne RCMP responded to a fire at the Shag Rock Manor in Whiteway in the early morning hours of October 31, 2022. All residents were evacuated safely.

The fire started outside of the main entrance of the building, shortly after midnight Sunday night. Whitbourne RCMP were notified of the fire at 12:40 am. Firefighters from three nearby departments responded and the fire, which is believed to be non-suspicious, was extinguished.

Residents of the personal care home were transported to Whiteway Recreation Centre for lodging. No one was injured.

RCMP NL thanks all firefighters for their efforts at containing the fire quickly and ensuring the safety of everyone involved.
