Western Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit execute search warrant recovering stolen property

On April 5, 2022, RCMP Western Alberta District RCMP Crime Reduction Unit began a stolen property investigation at a rural address in Demmitt, Alta. On May 22, 2022, the RCMP Western Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit recovered a stolen Dodge Ram 2500 from this location. The next day, with the assistance of Beaverlodge RCMP, members executed a search warrant resulting the recovery of a John Deere skid steer, a .308 calibre rifle, six industrial batteries, a small quantity of fentanyl, and two Ford pickup trucks with altered or damaged vehicle identification numbers. Three adult males and one adult female were taken into custody as well.

A 52-year-old individual of Dawson Creek, B.C., and a 35-year-old individual of Demmitt were jointly charged with the following:

  • possession of property obtained by crime over $5000 (x2)
  • possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 (x2)
  • altering a vehicle identification number on an motor vehicle
  • unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • possession of a controlled substance

A 57-year-old male of Demmitt and a 63-year-old male of Pouce Coupe, B.C. were jointly charged with the following:

  • possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
  • possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 (x2)

Following a judicial interim release hearing, the 52-year-old individual and the 35-year-old individual were released to appear in Grande Prairie Provincial court on June 15, 2022.

The 57-year-old individual and the 63-year-old individual were released by the RCMP and issued a summons appear in Grande Prairie Provincial court on August 10, 2022.

As this matter is now before the courts no further information is available.
