On May 26, 2022, Viking RCMP received a report of a stabbing just outside of a residence in Viking. The victim, a 51-year-old Viking resident had been taken to local hospital with an apparent non-fatal stab wound. The investigation revealed that the accused and victim were in a verbal altercation which resulted in the accused retrieving a knife and stabbing the victim once. On May 29, 2022, RCMP arrested a 24-year-old individual of Viking.
The individual has been charged with the following:
- Assault with a Weapon
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Fail to comply with probation
The individual was taken before a justice of the peace and was released on conditions with his next appearance in the future at Vegreville Provincial Court.
