UPDATE: Human remains identified, homicide investigation ongoing

The human remains located in Springfield in October 2022, have been identified and is being investigated as a homicide.

On October 8, 2022, the RCMP Southwest Nova Major Crime Unit located human remains at a property on Hastings Rd. in Springfield. The search was part of an ongoing missing person investigation.

On November 18, the remains were identified as Barry Albert (Mosher), who was reported missing to Lunenburg District RCMP on August 28, 2022.

The missing person and human remains investigations have been merged into a homicide investigation, that is ongoing.

The investigation is being led by the RCMP Southwest Nova Major Crime Unit, with assistance from the Bridgewater Police Service, the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner's Office, the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team, RCMP Forensic Identification Services and Lunenburg District RCMP.
