Two Chanel-Port aux Basques RCMP officers on patrol were in the right place at the right time to assist a man who was choking on May 29, 2022.

At approximately 8:30 p.m. on Sunday evening, while on patrol on Caribou Road in Port aux Basques, Constables Hunter and McCarron were flagged down by a woman. She alerted the officers to her husband, who was standing outside of their vehicle, choking and not able to breathe. The two Constables, trained in the use of First Aid, worked together and performed the appropriate First Aid treatment, dislodging the food item that was blocking the man's airway. The man, who made a full recovery, did not require medical treatment.

RCMP NL thanks both officers for their quick actions that likely saved the life of this man.
