Two individuals deceased following collision between school bus and car

A 65-year-old man and 27-year-old man, both from Atholville, have died following a two-vehicle collision in Charlo, N.B.

On May 17, 2022, at approximately 12:15 p.m., members of the Campbellton RCMP and the Charlo Fire Department responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision between a school bus and a car on Route 11.

Once on scene, police located the two occupants of the car deceased inside the vehicle. The driver of the school bus, along with three students that were on board at the time of the collision did not sustain serious injuries. The driver and two of the students were transported to hospital as a precautionary measure.

An RCMP collision reconstructionist and a member of the New Brunswick Coroner's office are assisting with the investigation. The cause of the collision remains under investigation and an autopsy will be scheduled to determine both individuals exact cause of death.

Members of the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure and the Department of Justice and Public Safety assisted at the scene.

The RCMP expresses their condolences to the men's family and friends, and are working with the Anglophone North School District and other agencies involved to ensure the proper support services are offered.
