A black four-door car with a boat trailer attached is pulled to the side of the road, in front of a marked RCMP vehicle.

The theft of a boat trailer in Heart's Content was quickly thwarted by police on Wednesday, August 10. Harbour Grace RCMP received the report at approximately 1:20 p.m., just minutes after the theft occurred.

A police officer on patrol in Carbonear passed a vehicle towing the described trailer, shortly after the report was received. Less than 20 minutes after the report came in, the vehicle was stopped by police on Columbus Drive not far from the intersection of Veteran's Memorial Highway and Cathedral Street. The driver was taken into custody without incident and will appear in court in October to face a charge of Theft Over $5000.

The trailer, which is valued at approximately $7000, will be returned to its rightful owner, whose quick reporting of the theft helped lead to the prompt recovery of the trailer by police.
