On June 11, 2022, at approximately 12:50 pm, Red River North RCMP received a report that what appeared to be human remains had been located by a kayaker on a bank of Lake Winnipeg north of Highway 12, near Road 103 North in the Grand Marais area of the RM of St. Clements.
The site where the remains were located is only accessibly by boat. Officers attended to the scene by water and were able to transport a Forensic Anthropologist to the location. It was determined the remains are human.
RCMP Major Crime Services and RCMP Forensic Identification Services also attended the scene to assist. The remains were removed and are awaiting autopsy. No identity has been confirmed.
The investigation continues.
