RCMP Southeast Traffic Services charge one driver and suspended another’s license

RCMP Southeast Traffic Services has charged one driver and suspended another's license after two incidents on July 27 in the Halifax Regional Municipality.

On July 27, 2022 at 4:59 p.m., a RCMP Southeast Traffic Services member was conducting a proactive traffic assignment as a result of numerous complaints from the public on St. Margaret's Bay Road in Upper Tantallon. The RCMP officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that was not displaying a license plate and observed that the driver was displaying signs of impairment. The vehicle driver, a 21-year-old Hubley man, provided a breath sample on an Approved Screening Device which determined that his blood alcohol level was over the provincial limit and as a result was issued a 7-day driving suspension.

Later at 8:39 p.m., another RCMP Southeast Traffic Services member was conducting speed enforcement on Hwy. 101 in Lower Sackville, and conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that was travelling at 177 km/h in a 110 km/h zone. The driver was charged with Stunting, issued a 7-day driving suspension and the vehicle was impounded.

RCMP Southeast Traffic Services is committed to reducing serious injury and fatal collisions by addressing the four causal factors of collisions. The four causal factors of collision which include aggressive driving, impaired driving, distracted driving, and not wearing an available seatbelt.
