RCMP NL arrests four more drivers for impaired driving over the weekend

Four more drivers were arrested by RCMP NL over the weekend for impaired driving. The vehicles were seized and impounded and all driver's licences were suspended.

On August 5, around 6:00 a.m., Stephenville RCMP responded to a report of an impaired driver. Officers located the vehicle and the 59-year-old driver, who showed signs of alcohol impairment. He was arrested for impaired driving, was transported to the detachment and provided breath samples that were over the legal limit. He will appear in court at a later date to answer to charges of impaired driving.

On August 6, shortly after 3:30 a.m., Stephenville RCMP conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle that was driving unusually slow. The 32-year-old female driver showed signs of alcohol impairment and failed a roadside breath test. She was arrested for impaired driving and was transported to the detachment where she provided breath samples that were almost three times the legal limit. The woman will appear in court at a later date to face charges of impaired driving.

On August 6, at approximately 8:30 p.m., Rigolet RCMP received a report of an impaired driver. Officers located the vehicle and the 37-year-old driver, who showed signs of being impaired by alcohol. The man was arrested and transported to the detachment where he provided breath samples that were twice the legal limit. The man will appear in court at a later date to answer to charges of impaired driving.

On August 7, 2022, at approximately 4:00 a.m., New Wes Valley RCMP observed a vehicle parked on the side of the road with the engine running and the lights on. The officer pulled over to do a safety check and found an unconscious woman at the wheel. The officer roused the 20-year-old woman, who showed signs of alcohol impairment. After failing a roadside breath test, she was arrested for impaired driving and was transported to the detachment, where she provided breath samples that were over the legal limit. She will appear in court at a later date to face charges of impaired driving.
