The New Brunswick RCMP conducted recent traffic enforcement in Dieppe, Moncton and Riverview, resulting in 118 traffic violations being issued and three vehicles being towed.
On June 10 and 11, 2022, police conducted an enforcement operation targeting proper use of seatbelts, speeding, distracted driving and impaired driving. The operation was led by the New Brunswick RCMP's Tactical Traffic Enforcement Unit (TTEU), with assistance from the Codiac Regional RCMP.
In total, three vehicles were towed and 118 charges were issued under the New Brunswick Motor Vehicle Act. These included 32 tickets for not wearing a seatbelt, 18 tickets for speeding and 12 tickets for using a hand-operated electronic device while driving. Furthermore, 56 tickets for various infractions were issued, including five for vehicles with no insurance, and ten for driving without a valid inspection. Police also charged three people for driving while suspended. A number of warnings were also issued.
"We conduct these operations with the goal of keeping our roadways safe and to prevent serious and fatal collisions. We focus our efforts on major factors that contribute to such collisions, like proper use of seatbelts, speeding, distracted driving and impaired driving" said Sgt. Mario Maillet with the TTEU.
The RCMP's TTEU conducts regular, targeted traffic enforcement on roadways throughout the province with the goals of improving road safety, educating motorists about the rules, and to reduce serious injury and fatal collisions.
