Punnichy RCMP: males arrested, 1 kg of methamphetamine seized after report of suspicious vehicle

On May 1, 2022 at approximately noon, Punnichy RCMP received a report of a suspicious vehicle on a property on Highway #15, near Raymore, SK.

The vehicle drove away. Officers then located it in the town of Quinton, activated their emergency lights and attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle did not stop until a second police vehicle blocked its path. The driver was then arrested.

The sole passenger of the vehicle fled on foot. He was located and arrested approximately two hours later at a business in Raymore, after a tip was received from the public.

The male dropped a bag while running from police. Officers located and seized approximately one kilogram of crystal methamphetamine. A backpack was also left at the property on Highway #15. As a result of searches of the two bags, officers located and seized illegal cigarettes, knives, batons, approximately 96 OxyContin pills and drug trafficking paraphernalia.

Craig Taylor of Whitecourt, AB is charged with:

  • 1 count, trafficking (methamphetamine), Section 5(1), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • 1 count, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, Section 88(2), Criminal Code
  • 1 count, flight from peace officer, Section 320.17, Criminal Code
  • 1 count, fail to comply with probation order, Section 733.1(1), Criminal Code

Sean Poulton of Spruce Grove, AB is charged with:

  • 1 count, trafficking (methamphetamine), Section 5(1), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • 1 count, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, Section 88(2), Criminal Code
  • 1 count, resist/obstruct peace officer, Section 129(a), Criminal Code.

They have been remanded into custody until their next court appearance in Punnichy on May 10.

"We thank the members of the public that reported the suspicious vehicle, as well as the whereabouts of one of the males we arrested," says Cpl. Jason Collen of the Punnichy RCMP. "Your actions helped us remove more than a kilogram of illicit drugs from the streets. This is an excellent example of the public and police working together to keep our community safe."
