Update-Portage la Prairie RCMP respond to robbery and kidnapping involving a firearm

Jesse Myles St. Paul has been arrested. The RCMP thanks the public and the media for their assistance.


Investigators have identified one of the suspects involved in the robbery and kidnapping that occurred on October 1, 2022, and have obtained a warrant of arrest for him.

Jesse Myles St. Paul, 29, of Portage la Prairie is WANTED for:

Robbery with a Firearm
Pointing a Firearm
Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
Possession of a Firearm While Prohibited

RCMP are looking for the public's assistance in locating Jesse. He is known to frequent Portage la Prairie and Ebb and Flow First Nation. He is known to be violent. Do not approach and call police if seen.

He is described as 6'0", 180 lbs with black hair and brown eyes.

The investigation is ongoing and police continue to work on identifying the other suspects involved.

On October 1, 2022, at approximately 4:30 am, Portage la Prairie RCMP responded to a robbery and kidnapping that occurred on Provincial Road 227, in the RM of Portage la Prairie.

Two males were travelling in a truck with a camper, when they stopped for the night on PR 227, off Highway 16, in the RM of Portage la Prairie. One male was sleeping in the truck and the other male was sleeping in the camper. At 4:30 am, three males opened the door and yelled at the victim to get out of the vehicle. The male victim was assaulted and threatened with a firearm. The males got inside the truck and ran over the victim as they fled in the truck and camper. The suspects were aware that there was a male inside the camper when they fled.

Officers located the truck and camper and short time later near the intersection of Highway 16 and Highway 50. The suspects had fled but the victim, a 69-year-old male from India, was located safe inside the camper.

The other victim, a 33-year-old male was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The suspects are described as male and possibly Hispanic or Indigenous, wearing dark clothing. One male had a large build and was wearing a dark coloured mask over his face.
