On August 2, 2022, at 8:25 pm, Portage la Prairie RCMP received a report of a possible plane crash, located approximately 18 kilometres south-west of Southport.
RCMP and EMS services arrived on scene and located a crop dusting plane that had crashed into a field.
The 54-year-old male pilot, from Morden, was pronounced deceased on scene.
The Transportation Safety Board of Canada was notified and they have deployed to the site.
