Pictou County District RCMP is investigating a fatal crash that occurred on Pictou Landing Rd. in Chance Harbour.
On August 24, 2022, at approximately 11:45 a.m., Pictou County District RCMP, fire and EHS responded to a report of a single vehicle crash on Pictou Landing Rd. in Chance Harbour. RCMP officers learned that a dump truck had been travelling on Pictou Landing Rd. when it left the roadway and came to rest in a ditch.
The driver, and sole occupant, of the dump truck, an 84-year-old man from Linacy, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
A collision reconstructionist attended the scene and the investigation is ongoing.
Pictou Landing Rd. was closed for several hours but has since reopened.
