Nipawin RCMP: two charged after firearms-related incidents

On May 27, 2022, Nipawin RCMP received a report of an armed person in a residence in the Seymour Street area.

Investigation determined an individual went to a residence and when they arrived, an adult female pointed a firearm through the window. The individual did not report injuries.

Officers arrested an adult female at the residence. Racheal Budd is charged with:

  • 1 count, pointing a firearm, Section 87(2), Criminal Code
  • 1 count, possession of a weapon contrary to a court order, Section 117.01(3), Criminal Code
  • 1 count, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, Section 88(2), Criminal Code
  • 1 count, theft under $5,000, Section 334(b), Criminal Code

She has been remanded into custody until her next appearance in Nipawin Provincial Court on June 15, 2022.

On June 5, 2022, Nipawin RCMP received a report of a firearm discharge on 3rd Street North in Nipawin.

Investigation determined the firearm was discharged inside a residence. No one was injured. An adult female, who had a loaded firearm in her possession, was arrested. Twila Stewart is charged with:

  • 1 count, careless use of a firearm, Section 86(1), Criminal Code
  • 1 count, careless storage of a firearm, Section 86(1), Criminal Code
  • 1 count, resisting Arrest, Section 129(a) CC
  • 1 count, possession of loaded prohibited firearm, Section 95(1)(a), Criminal Code
  • 1 count, possession of a weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, Section 88, Criminal Code
  • 1 count, possession of a prohibited weapon, Section 91(2), Criminal Code
  • 1 count, possession of a firearm without a licence, Section 92(1), Criminal Code
  • 1 count, possession of prohibited firearm magazine, Section 92(1), Criminal Code
  • 1 count, possession of a magazine without a licence, Section 92(2), Criminal Code
  • 1 count, possession of firearm with altered serial number, Section 108(1)(b), Criminal Code

She has been remanded into custody until her next appearance in Nipawin Provincial Court on June 9, 2022.
