Man sentenced to two years in prison for trafficking cocaine

A 45-year-old man from Collette, N.B., has been sentenced to two years in prison following a drug investigation in Alberton, PEI.

On July 5, 2018, members of the Prince District Joint Forces Operations (JFO) Unit conducted a targeted traffic stop in Alberton as part of a drug investigation. A 45-year-old man was arrested at the scene. During the search of his vehicle, police seized one pound (448 grams) of cocaine, drug paraphernalia, and over $5,000.

On September 28, 2018, Jerry Vautour was charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking. Vautour was found guilty by the PEI Supreme Court on July 29, 2021. On February 25, 2022, he appeared in PEI Supreme Court and was sentenced to two years in prison. Once released, he will be prohibited to own any weapons for life, and will be required to submit a DNA sample.

The Prince District JFO Drug Unit is comprised of RCMP, Summerside, and Kensington Police Services.
