Man facing charge after refusing to provide roadside breath sample in Clarenville

A 60-year-old man is facing a charge for refusing to provide a roadside breath sample on February 24, 2022, in Clarenville.

At approximately 9:15 a.m. on Thursday, Clarenville RCMP responded to a report of an unresponsive individual located in a vehicle in the parking lot of the Random Square Mall. The man was assessed by paramedics at the scene and was cleared of requiring medical attention. He showed signs of impairment and refused to provide a roadside breath test.

The man was later released from police custody and is set to attend court at a later date to answer to a charge of refusal. His vehicle was seized and impounded and his driver's licence was suspended.
