Man arrested for flight from police and dangerous driving

A 22-year-old man from Portage, P.E.I. has been arrested after failing to stop for police and driving dangerously in Alberton.

On April 1, 2022, at 11:45 a.m., the West Prince RCMP attempted to pull over a pickup truck on Church Street in Alberton. The pickup truck failed to pull over and fled from police at speeds exceeding 120 km/h in 50 km/h zones. The pickup truck passed other vehicles dangerously, and almost collided with a marked police cruiser before crashing into a snowbank at the intersection of Route 2 and Dock Road. The pickup truck was last seen driving south on Route 2.

Through their investigation, police were able to identify the driver as a 22-year-old man from Portage. He was arrested at his residence shortly after 1 p.m. The man was later released and is scheduled to appear in Summerside Provincial Court at a later date.

The investigation continues.
