Man arrested in connection with numerous property thefts

The West District RCMP has arrested a man in connection with several ongoing theft investigations in a number of communities between Oromocto and St George, N.B.

Between April and June, 2022, RCMP detachments in the West District received numerous reports of property theft, including gasoline, off-road vehicles and catalytic converters.

On June 16, 2022, members of the St. George RCMP Detachment, with the assistance of the RCMP Police Dog Services, attended a residence on Route 127 in Chamcook. A 29-year-old man from Tracy was arrested at the scene on unrelated matters. The man appeared in Fredericton Provincial Court on June 17 and was remanded into custody. He is scheduled to return to court for a bail hearing on June 27, at 9:30.

A 26-year-old woman from Chamcook was also arrested at the scene in connection with the investigation, and was later released on conditions. She is scheduled to appear in Fredericton Provincial Court on September 28.

Anyone who witnesses suspicious activity or vehicles in their area are asked to contact their local police detachment. If you have been a victim of a similar crime and have not reported it to police, please contact your local detachment. Every report could help ongoing investigations.
