On October 30, 2022, the missing 61-year-old male was located deceased in Cockeram Lake. The RCMP would like to acknowledge the efforts of the residents of Marcel Colomb First Nation and Lynn Lake, who put in countless hours of searching as well as providing support to the searchers and family who have been on scene since the incident occurred.

On October 15, 2022, at approximately 10:00 pm, Lynn Lake RCMP received a report of a missing boat with two adult occupants, a 30-year-old female and a 61-year-old male, both from Lynn Lake. The two individuals were known to have gone fishing on Cockeram Lake, which is approximately 10 kilometres east of the Town of Lynn Lake.

At daybreak on October 16, 2022, a search began. Lynn Lake RCMP, Leaf Rapids RCMP, and Canadian Rangers based out of Lynn Lake were involved in the search, and aerial patrols were also conducted. The boat was located submerged in the lake, but the two missing boaters were not with the boat.

In the evening of October 16, 2022, local civilian searchers located the female boater deceased. The RCMP Underwater Recovery Team is en route to Lynn Lake to assist in the search for the male boater.

At this time, the focus is on locating the missing male, and the investigation will continue into the circumstances surrounding the submerged boat.
