News release

Leduc RCMP Crime Reduction Unit, (LCRU) with the assistance of officers from Leduc RCMP General Duty, conducted a two-week crime reduction initiative that targeted offenders with outstanding arrest warrants in the Leduc RCMP Detachment area.

Officers proactively attended multiple residences and arrested offenders on outstanding warrants for a range of Criminal Code offences and Traffic Safety Act offences. In total, there were 33 individuals arrested resulting in the execution of 82 warrants with a total of 146 charges.

The Leduc RCMP implement crime reductive initiatives to target known offenders and address the root cause of crime in the area. Efforts are being made to target their criminal activities, and hold them accountable before the courts.

"This warrant round-up is a successful example of the targeted crime reduction initiatives Leduc RCMP use," says Sgt. Thomas Dimopoulos, LCRU NCO. "Between our warrant round-ups, crime hot spot patrols, targeting prolific offenders and the crime reports we receive from community members, our goal is to reduce crime and in turn the impact of crime on our community."
