Lac du Bonnet RCMP respond to drowning

On August 9, 2022, at approximately 4:00 pm, Lac du Bonnet RCMP received a report of a possible drowning at Pine Point Rapids in the Whiteshell Provincial Park.

Officers were advised that a 33-year-old male, from Winnipeg, was sliding down the falls when he entered the deeper part of the water and immediately began having difficulty. The male then went under and did not resurface. A by-stander jumped into the water to provide assistance but could not get to him in time.

At approximately 2:30 pm, on August 10, 2022, the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team, along with assistance from Manitoba Conservation Officers & Manitoba Parks staff, located and recovered the body.

Lac du Bonnet continue to investigate.
