Indian Bay man charged with firearms offences by New-Wes-Valley RCMP

New-Wes-Valley RCMP arrested and charged 32-year-old Joshua Collins last week for a number of firearms offences.

At approximately 9:30 p.m. on Monday September 26, 2022, police responded to a report of a firearm being discharged in a cabin, in the area of Indian Bay Big Pond. RCMP officers from New-Wes-Valley, Gander and Glovertown detachments attended the area, along with the RCMP Emergency Response Team.

Collins was arrested in the early morning hours of September 27, 2022, without further incident. He is charged with the following offences:

  • Careless use of a firearm
  • Possession of a firearm while prohibited - four counts
  • Breach of a condition of a court release order

He was remanded into custody over the weekend, attended court on Monday and is scheduled to appear in court today for a bail hearing.

The investigation is continuing.
