Halifax District RCMP charge a man following an Assault with a Weapon

Halifax District RCMP has charged one man in relation to weapon offences that occurred on Clarence St. in North Preston.

On October 6, at approximately 10:30 p.m., Halifax District RCMP responded to a report of an assault with a weapon in progress at a home on Clarence St. in North Preston. RCMP officers learned that two North Preston men, who are known to each other, had a heated argument that resulted in a weapon being discharged by a 21-year-old man. The victim, a 20-year-old man, was struck by a projectile and suffered minor injuries. He declined medical treatment.

RCMP officers located and safely arrested the 21-year-old man nearby. A pellet gun was found and seized during his arrest.

Tyrese Byrne, 21, has been charged with:

  • Assault with a Weapon;
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose;
  • Uttering Threats;
  • Using Imitation Firearm in the Commission of an Offence;
  • Causing Bodily Harm with Intent – Air Gun or Pistol.

Byrne was held in custody and will appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court later today.
