Grande Prairie RCMP traffic stop leads to charges

Grande Prairie RCMP have arrested two individuals and seized drugs following a traffic stop.

On June 9, 2022, at approximately 6 p.m., Grande Prairie RCMP Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) officers were making proactive patrols in the Riverstone area of Grande Prairie. A traffic stop led officers into a drug investigation and resulted in the arrest of the driver and passenger of a vehicle. A search incidental to arrest resulted in the discovery and seizure of the following:

  • 10 grams of methamphetamine
  • 83.68 grams of cocaine

A 22-year-old individual of Grande Prairie was charged with the following:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking
  • Resisting arrest x2.

A 19-year-old individual of Grande Prairie was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Following judicial hearings, both individuals were released on conditions and will appear in Grande Prairie Provincial Court on July 13, 2022.
