Grande Prairie RCMP investigation into break and enter leads to arrest of five individuals

Grande Prairie RCMP have recovered stolen property, seized weapons and drugs and laid charges following an investigation into a break and enter.

On Sept. 22, 2022, RCMP were dispatched to a report of a break and enter to a residence in the Crystal Ridge area of Grande Prairie, and an investigation was conducted.

Subsequent to the investigation, Grande Prairie General Duty officers along with assistance from Grande Prairie Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) and Grande Prairie RCMP Police Dog Services (PDS), executed a search warrant at a residence in the Crystal Village area of Grande Prairie. As a result, the following items were seized by police:

  • Stolen property from the break and enter
  • Multiple firearms including several airsoft handguns
  • Various ammunition
  • 35 grams of suspected Cocaine
  • 17 grams of suspected Methamphetamine
  • .5 grams of suspected Fentanyl

A 27-year-old individual, a resident of Grande Prairie, has been charged with the following:

  • Careless use of a firearm X2
  • Fail to comply with release order
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking X3
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 X3
  • Unauthorized possession of firearm/prohibited weapon X 8
  • Possession of a firearm with a tampered serial number
  • Possession of weapon contrary to order
  • Possession of weapon obtained by crime
  • Possession of restricted firearm with ammunition without licence

A 37-year-old individual, a resident of Grande Prairie, has been charged with the following:

  • Careless use of a firearm X2
  • Fail to comply with release order
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking X3
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 X3
  • Unauthorized possession of firearm/prohibited weapon X 8
  • Possession of a firearm with a tampered serial number
  • Possession of restricted firearm with ammunition without licence
  • Possession of weapon obtained by crime
  • Possession of weapon contrary to order X2

A 36-year-old individual, a resident of Grande Prairie, has been charged with the following:

  • Careless use of a firearm X2
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking X3
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 X3
  • Unauthorized possession of firearm/prohibited weapon X 8
  • Possession of restricted firearm with ammunition without licence
  • Possession of weapon obtained by crime
  • Possession of a firearm with a tampered serial number

A 29-year-old individual, a resident of Grande Prairie, has been charged with the following:

  • Careless use of a firearm X2
  • Fail to comply with release order
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking X3
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 X3
  • Unauthorized possession of firearm/prohibited weapon X 8
  • Possession of a firearm with a tampered serial number
  • Possession of restricted firearm with ammunition without licence
  • Possession of weapon obtained by crime

A 24-year-old individual, a resident of Grande Prairie, has been charged with the following:

  • Careless use of a firearm X2
  • Fail to comply with release order
  • Fail to comply with probation order
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking X3
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 X3
  • Unauthorized possession of firearm/prohibited weapon X 8
  • Possession of a firearm with a tampered serial number
  • Possession of restricted firearm with ammunition without licence
  • Possession of weapon obtained by crime
  • Resist arrest X2
  • Possession of weapon contrary to order X2

Four of the individual are scheduled to appear in Grande Prairie provincial court on Oct. 12, 2022. The 24-year-old individual is currently awaiting a judicial interim release hearing.
