Grande Prairie RCMP Crime Reduction Unit investigation leads to charges

Grande Prairie RCMP have arrested an individual and seized drugs following a traffic stop.

On June 16, 2022, at approximately 7 p.m., Grande Prairie RCMP Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) officers were making proactive patrols on 92 Street by 68 Avenue in Grande Prairie and conducted a vehicle stop. As a result of the traffic stop, the officers began a drug investigation leading to the arrest of the driver for possessing controlled substances for the purpose of trafficking. A search incidental to arrest resulted in the discovery and seizure of the following:

  • Two cell phones
  • Canadian currency
  • Thirty-three dime bags with 28.5 grams of cocaine

A 38-year-old individual, of Edmonton, has been charged with one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Following a judicial hearing, the 38-year-old individual was released on conditions and will appear in Grande Prairie Provincial Court on July 20, 2022.
