Fort Saskatchewan RCMP seek public assistance in locating victims of multiple hit and run collisions

Fort Saskatchewan RCMP are seeking the public's assistance in identifying vehicles involved in multiple hit and runs. On Feb 19, 2022 at 5:45 pm., Fort Saskatchewan RCMP received multiple calls for service related to hit and run collisions to vehicles travelling through the city.

Preliminary investigation reveals that collisions involved the same suspect vehicle. Calls for service to hit and runs were first reported in the north end of Fort Saskatchewan, in the southbound lane of Hwy 15.

Multiple vehicles were sideswiped and rammed off the road. The suspect vehicle turned east onto 101 Street, then south onto a service road at 88 Avenue travelling into the gas station and No Frills grocery store parking lot where additional vehicles and one pedestrian were struck. The pedestrian was treated for minor injuries at the Hospital in Fort Saskatchewan.

The suspect vehicle exited the lot turning southbound onto 86 Avenue. At the intersection of 101 Street and 86 Avenue a head on collision occurred, in which the suspect vehicle fled driving eastbound towards the Fort Saskatchewan Correctional Centre. A 34-year old male exited the suspect vehicle, a 2017 Dodge Ram, and was arrested by police.

The 34-year old male is facing twenty-one Criminal charges in relation to:

  • 11 Counts for Section 320.16(1) – Failure to Stop or Remain at Scene of Accident
  • 2 Counts for Section 56.1 – Trafficking in Government Documents
  • 2 Counts for Section 129(A) – Resist/ Obstructing a Peace Officer
  • 1 Count for Section 320.13(1) – Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
  • 1 Count for Section 320.13(2) – Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle cause Bodily Harm
  • 1 Count for Section 320.18 – Operation while Prohibited
  • 1 Count for Section 344(1)(B) - Robbery
  • 1 Count for Section 351 (1) – Possession of Break-in Instruments
  • 1 Count for Section 355 (B) - Trafficking in Property Obtained by Crime
