Digby RCMP charge man in robbery

Digby RCMP has charged a man after a robbery at a convenience store on Water St. in Digby.

On November 26, 2022, at approximately 5:30 p.m., Digby RCMP responded to a report of a robbery that had just occurred at a convenience store on Water St. RCMP officers learned that a man had entered the store, assaulted an employee and stole cash from the till. The man then fled the store on foot. The employee was not injured in the incident.

At approximately 5:50 p.m., the man was located on Church St. in Digby. After initially providing a false identification to RCMP officers, the man was properly identified and safely arrested. The man was also in possession of cocaine at the time of his arrest. He was transported to the Digby RCMP Detachment where he was held in custody overnight.

Harold James Baker, 51, of Plympton, has been charged with Robbery, Obstructing a Peace Officer and Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Baker was remanded into custody and will appear in Digby Provincial Court today.
