Cumberland County District RCMP charge man in theft of furnace oil thanks to tips received from the public

Cumberland County District RCMP has charged a man in a theft of furnace oil incident that occurred in Parrsboro, thanks to tips received from members of the public.

On October 16, 2022, Cumberland County District RCMP responded to a report of a man stealing furnace oil from an oil tank outside of a medical clinic on Jenks Ave. in Parrsboro. RCMP officers learned that the man was driving a GMC Jimmy and had fled the area, leaking oil on the road. A witness provided RCMP officers with a video of the incident, which the RCMP released publicly in the hopes of identifying the vehicle.

On October 23, after receiving numerous tips from the public, RCMP officers arrested Robert Forbes, 56, of New Prospect, and charged him with Theft under $5,000. Forbes was released from custody and will appear in Amherst Provincial Court on February 13, 2023 at 9:30 a.m.

The RCMP would like to thank the public for the information and tips they provided. These tips were instrumental in Forbes being identified, and charges being laid.
