Coronation RCMP charge suspect with property related offences

On June 7, 2022, Coronation RCMP received a complaint of three suspects observed on video stealing copper wire in Flagstaff County. The truck involved was followed by a complainant to a field near the Diplomat Mine on Highway 855 just north of Halkirk, Alta. The suspects were pulling a 16-foot trailer that came unhooked and ended up in the ditch. Coronation RCMP officers attended and learned that a suspects had fled the truck into the field. Red Deer Police Dog Service attended and were able to assist in tracking and arresting a suspect without incident. The other two suspects are still at large but were observed later in the day in Veteran and Consort, Alta.

As a result of the investigation Coronation RCMP have charged a 27-year-old individual with the following charges:

  • Possession of Stolen Property over $5,000 (x2)
  • Possession of a Prohibited Weapon
  • Possession of a Prohibited Weapon while on a Prohibition Order
  • Possession of Methamphetamine
  • Fail to Comply with Release order (x5)

The 27-year-old individual was remanded into custody with his next appearance set for June 10, 2022, at Coronation Provincial Court.

With the assistance of the community, we were able to locate a suspect who fled from the stolen truck on foot that was observed on video stealing copper wire.
