Clarenville RCMP stops speeding vehicle; cannabis and vehicle seized, tickets issued

This SUV, stopped for speeding by Clarenville RCMP on February 20, 2022, was seized and impounded for having no insurance.

A 23-year-old man was stopped for speeding by Clarenville RCMP on February 20, 2022, on the Trans-Canada Highway (TCH). The vehicle and a quantity of cannabis were seized and the driver was ticketed for a number of violations.

At approximately 11:50 p.m. on Sunday, police observed the SUV travelling 127 km/h on the TCH west of Clarenville. A traffic stop was conducted. The driver was operating without a licence, registration or insurance. Approximately 25 grams of cannabis, that was not properly sealed or stored, was located and seized from inside the vehicle. The vehicle was seized and impounded for having no insurance and the driver was ticketed for speeding and operating a vehicle without insurance.
