March 31, 2022
Brooks, Alberta

News release

On March 26, 2022, at 2:41 a.m., Brooks RCMP responded to a complaint of two vehicles driving at an excessive speed in the City of Brooks. One of the vehicles was reported to be parked in a residential area on the east side of Brooks, so police attended and spoke with the driver who indicated that he was fleeing from a vehicle who was shooting at him with what they believed to be a firearm. When officers viewed the vehicle, there were visible bullet holes located on it.

Further investigation revealed that this driver and his friend were in an altercation earlier at an establishment in Brooks along the 100 Block of 1 Street West. When they left the area, they were followed by a black SUV, which then allegedly fired several gun shots at them before fleeing.

One suspect has been identified and charges are pending; however, a second suspect is still outstanding. The Brooks RCMP are requesting anyone who may have witnessed any of these events to please contact the Brooks RCMP or Crime Stoppers at the numbers below.

The Brooks RCMP would like the public to know that this was not a random attack and the general public is not at risk as a result of this incident.
