Bay St. George RCMP investigates ATV crash; operator arrested for impaired driving

A 57-year-old man was arrested for impaired driving after crashing an all-terrain vehicle on June 5, 2022.

Shortly after 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, Bay St. George RCMP were notified of the crash that took place on a beach in Black Duck Brook. While enroute, officers met an ambulance that was transporting the injured ATV operator for medical treatment. An officer followed the ambulance to the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital, while another officer attended the crash scene.

The operator, who showed signs of alcohol impairment, was arrested at the hospital and samples of his blood were collected following a blood demand. Police await the results of the blood samples to determine if charges of impaired driving are appropriate.

The investigation is continuing.
