Bay Roberts RCMP responds to tip of drug-impaired driver, man arrested

A 19-year-old man was arrested for drug-impaired driving by Bay Roberts RCMP after police received a report of a suspected impaired driver on June 15, 2022.

On Wednesday evening, officers received a report of a vehicle being operated by a suspected impaired driver in Brigus. A patrol was made and the described vehicle and driver were located. The same vehicle was reported to be excessively speeding on the Trans-Canada Highway a short time earlier in the area of Paddy's Pond.

The man showed signs of drug impairment and was arrested. He was transported to the detachment and completed a drug influence evaluation and was released from custody. He is set to appear in court at a later date to face a charge of drug impaired driving. His licence was suspended and the car was seized and impounded.
