Athabasca RCMP arrest and charge male for aggravated assault and weapons charges

On July 5, 2022, Athabasca RCMP responded to a call for assistance at a residence in the town of Athabasca. A male suspect allegedly assaulted a male with a sword. The male victim received serious but non life threatening injuries and was brought to the hospital.

The male suspect was later located by RCMP members and subsequently arrested without any further injuries to anyone. The weapon was seized by RCMP members. The investigation is still on-going at this time.

The male suspect is facing the following charges:

  • Aggravated assault
  • Uttering threats against a person
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

Following a judicial hearing, the suspect was released from custody and will be appearing in Athabasca Provincial Court on July 25, 2022.
