66-year-old man dies following single-vehicle collision with pedestrian

A 66-year-old man from Haut Madawaska, N.B., has died following a single-vehicle collision with a pedestrian in the community.

On December 29, 2022, at approximately 7:20 p.m., members of the Saint-Léonard RCMP detachment responded to a report of a single-vehicle collision involving a pedestrian on Route 205 in Haut Madawaska. The pedestrian died at the scene as a result of his injuries. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was uninjured.

An RCMP collision reconstructionist and members of the Haut Madawaska Fire Department and Ambulance New Brunswick also attended the scene. A member of the New Brunswick Coroner's office is assisting with the ongoing investigation and an autopsy will be scheduled to determine the man's exact cause of death.

The investigation is ongoing.
