A 30-year-old man from Moncton, N.B., has been charged following an armed robbery in the community.

On September 19, 2022, shortly after 7 p.m., members of the Codiac Regional RCMP on patrol were approached by an individual who reported an armed robbery in progress at a nearby business, on Main Street. Police attended the scene and quickly located the suspect, who was brandishing a knife. The 30-year-old man was arrested shortly after, without incident.

On September 20, Darrell Dean Evans appeared in Moncton Provincial Court by way of tele-remand and was charged with armed robbery. He was remanded into custody and is scheduled to return to court on September 22, at 3:30 p.m., for a bail hearing.

"As a result of pro-active patrols in the Moncton area, members were able to respond immediately and contain the situation," said S/Sgt. Thierry Malenfant with the Codiac Regional RCMP. "No one was injured during the incident."
