17-year-old boy arrested following assault with weapon

A 17-year-old boy from Charlottetown has been arrested following an assault with a weapon in Hampshire, PEI.

On October 27, 2022, at approximately 11:15 a.m., members of the Queens District RCMP responded to a report of an assault with a weapon at Bluefield High School in Hampshire. When police arrived at the scene, they found a 16-year-old boy suffering from stab wounds. He was transported to hospital with what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries.

Through the investigation, police identified a person of interest in connection with the incident, and shortly after 12 p.m., a 17-year-old boy was arrested in Charlottetown by Charlottetown Police and members of the PEI RCMP Federal Policing Unit.

A number of PEI RCMP specialized policing services also attended the scene, including members of the Major Crime Unit, Provincial Priority Unit, and Police Dog Services.

The investigation is ongoing.
