Suspect, Keiron Alexander Shiferaw-Reid

Yellowknife RCMP have identified the suspect in a shooting, which occurred in the early morning of November 11th, 2021.

On November 11th, 2021, Yellowknife RCMP were dispatched to a report of a shooting in the area of 51A Avenue. RCMP officers attended the scene and found a male who was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The male victim was transported to the Stanton Territorial Hospital with life threatening injuries. The victim remains in hospital. The suspect has been identified as 21 year old Keiron Alexander Shiferaw-Reid of Edmonton, Alberta. Shiferaw-Reid has been charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault and careless use of a firearm. A warrant for Shiferaw-Reid was issued and RCMP continue to make efforts to locate him. Shiferaw-Reid has been described as between 6 ft 4 in and 6 ft 5 in in height.

Shiferaw-Reid should be considered armed and dangerous. The RCMP advises the public not to approach Shiferaw-Reid, but to call police immediately if he is encountered.

The investigation into this incident is still on-going.
