Upper Tantallon, Nova Scotia

News release

Halifax District RCMP arrested a woman for dangerous driving and flight from police.

On May 2, at approximately 9:30 p.m., police were travelling on Highway 103 in Upper Tantallon when they observed a car travelling at a high rate of speed. The officer activated the radar and recorded the car's speed at 155 km/h. The officer turned around and turned on their emergency equipment to stop the car.

The car continued driving on the highway when the car lights went out. The car was seen taking the exit 5 ramp before it rapidly decelerated on the shoulder of the road and slid into the ditch. A tire on the car had blown, causing the driver to lose control.

The two occupants were arrested. The driver, a 20-year-old woman from Head of St. Margaret's Bay, was transported to the Tantallon RCMP Detachment. The passenger was released at the scene.

The woman is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court at a later date to face charges of Dangerous Operation and Flight from Police.
