Wetaskiwin RCMP execute search warrant; seized stolen property

On Sept. 17, 2021, Wetaskiwin RCMP Crime Reduction Unit, with assistance of members from Wetaskiwin RCMP, Maskwacis RCMP and the K Division RCMP Auto theft unit, executed a search warrant on a rural Wetaskiwin County property. The RCMP were conducting an investigation into a suspected chop shop on the property. Following the search, five stolen trucks, an enclosed trailer, an industrial generator unit, three dirt bikes as well as other stolen property were recovered, with an approximate value of over $100,000.

As a result of the investigation, the following charges have been laid against one male:

  • A 31-year-old male of Wetaskiwin, Alta. is charged with the following:
  • Possession for Stolen Property over $5000 (x6)
  • Possession for Stolen Property under $5000 (x5)
  • Alter/Destroy/Remove a Vehicle Identification Number

31-year-old male was brought before a justice of the peace and was released on a $2000 promise to pay release order and is scheduled to appear in Wetaskiwin provincial court on Oct. 12, 2021.
